A Celebration of Life for Yousif Lazar, 77, of Clarksville, TN will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Yousif was born on May 28, 1947 in Mosul, Iraq to Lazar Khamo and Reswainah Eshaia who preceded him in death. He joined what is now the Kurdish Military as a Guerilla Fighter at the age of 14. Yousif is labeled as a hero (Feryssa) by the people of Northern Iraq for his outstanding service from 1961-1972. After the end of his service he received the rank of 4 Star General with a crown. Yousif loved hunting. He was also very sarcastic and a huge prankster, which made him an excellent storyteller. Yousif was very proud to be a Christian and was a member of Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East.
Yousif is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jane Shawel Lazar, children: Lazar (Maryna) Lazar and George (Silvia) Lazar, daughters, Germaine (Peter) Ibrahim, Ninvh (Douglas) Combs, Feryal (Loay) Warda, and Lenna Hermiz, grandsons, George, Joseph, James, and Ashur Ibrahim and Alex Kozub, Samuel Lazar, and Zaia and Jameel Warda, granddaughters, Joleen, Melanie, and Aubrey Combs, Josephine and Sofia Lazar, and Shammy, Charlotte, Anna, Elizabeth and Angie Warda, and sister, Anna Hermiz.
