Wayne Steven Hannahs, 62, of Clarksville, TN, formally of Cambridge, Ohio left this world on February 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the St. Bethlehem Christian Church.
He was born October 28, 1951 to Herman (Jake) and Ellen Hannahs. Mr. Hannahs leaves behind, his wife of 10 years, Judy Patterson Hannahs of Clarksville and his beloved daughter, Sarah Rose Ellen Hannahs of Cambridge, Ohio.
He was a 1969 graduate of Meadowbrook High School. After graduation he worked as a laborer at Salt Fork Lodge. Mr. Hannahs served his country for 6 years in the U.S. Navy, having earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer 1st Class. He served on the U.S. Richmond K. Turner DLG 20. During this time, he earned his training as an electronics technician. He work at N.C.R. in Cambridge the Newark Air Force Base before transferring to Fort Campbell, KY where he retired on December 31, 2013
He also attended Ohio University where he pursued his passion for English. He was an avid reader and often had a book in his hand. On the weekends, Steve loved to golf, drive, tune up the Beatles and pound his thumb on the steering wheel. He treasured his time with family and the many conversations most were about his love for music. On Saturdays, you could find him wearing his favorite Buckeyes shirt and rooting for Ohio State. Mr. Hannahs loved to travel and take lots of photos, capturing the sunsets and ocean views from his visits to various coasts throughout his life. He will be missed for his laugh, contagious smile, unconditional love, his wisdom and kind and gentle spirit.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Hannahs, October 20, 2008 and his Mother, Ellen Hannahs, December 30, 2013. He is also survived by one sister, Sandy (Mark) Ogle of Quaker City, OH; brother, Scott (Teresa) Hannahs of Palm Bay, Fl; step-daughter, Cathy (John) Perry of Clarksville, TN and a host of friends.
