Wallace Verdell Moore, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on New Years Eve, December 31, 2011.  Survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara McLaughlin Moore, a son Roger Moore ( Connie), daughter Karen Moore, daughter Janet Moore Miller ( David) all of Nashville, and sister Jane Shippey (Taylor), of Oklahoma City, OK.





Wally was born on May 18, 1923 in Drakesboro, Kentucky, the son of Verdell and Ruth Moore, and grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas.  He attended the University of Arkansas, the University of Oklahoma, and graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he was President of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.  He served as a staff sergeant in the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army- the “soldiers on skis” unit – during World War 11, earning a purple heart and two bronze service star commendations.  He retired in 1981 from a long career with 3M Corporation.  He was a scoutmaster for boy scout troops 277 and 87 for many years, and was an active member of Hermitage Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Ballinger Sunday School Class.





A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Allen Black at 10:00 am on Monday January 9th  at the Veterans Cemetery at 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, 37221.  The family will receive visitors on Sunday, January 8th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the home of Janet and David Miller 1706 Cedar Lane, Nashville. 37212.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 87, c/o Belle Meade UMC, 121 Davidson Road, Nashville, TN 37205.
