Virginia Lee Joiner, age 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 7, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
The funeral will be held at 1PM Sunday, April 10, at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with Pastor Roger Freeman officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10AM until the hour of the service Sunday at the funeral home.
Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 27, 1921, in Stewart County, daughter of John Herbert Sanderson and Lucy Edwards Sanderson. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Carra G. Joiner, and brothers, Orman Sanderson, Clyde Sanderson, Russell Sanderson, and Paul Sanderson, and sisters, Violet Stagner, Juanita Graham, and Jean Chester Howard.
She was a homemaker and a member of New Providence Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons, Benson Joiner (Shirley) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Daniel Joiner (Sharon) of Kernersville, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Matthew (Melanie) Joiner, Amanda (Chris) Eden, Steven (Helen) Joiner; and Shelley (Randy) Brown; eight great-grandchildren, Grace Joiner, Michael Joiner, Kayla Eden, Ava Eden, Logan Joiner, Luke Joiner, Danlee Brown, Lexi Brown.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Memorials contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
