Thomas Alva Stanley, Sr.

Thomas Alva Stanley, Sr., age 97, of Suwanee, GA and Alpharetta, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. He was born on December 20, 1913 in Clarksville, TN, to the late A.L. and Emma Goin Stanley.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary E. "Ebby" Stanley, he is survived by his daughter, Janet Wright and husband, David, of Suwanee, GA; son, Blue Spotted Elk and wife, Christine, of SD; brother, Jack Stanley and wife, Margie of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Tommy Stanley III and wife, Allison, of Clarksville, TN, Kimberly Chesin and husband, Grant, of Alpharetta, GA, Cody, Sundance, and Ahbleza Stanley of NC, Rain Spotted Elk of SD; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Stanley of Clarksville, TN, and Amanda and Tiffany Chesin of Alpharettta, GA.

Mr. Stanley was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, a member of Masonic Lodge #889 FA&M, a Shriner and served as a Worthy Patron in the Eastern Star. He was a member of the American Legion, Scottish Rites and York Rites. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 15th, from 5-8 p.m. at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home in Norcross. Visitation will also be held Saturday, September 17th, from 5-8 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, TN.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 18th, at 2 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, TN. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Clarksville, TN.
