Thomas W. Merritt Thomas W. Merritt, 78, Clarksville, died Monday, October 27, 2008, at Grace Health Care. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Mackens officiating. Burial will be in Robertson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m today at the funeral home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Merritt was born September 4, 1930 in Davidson County, son of Albert F. and Emma Lou Simpkins Merritt. Preceded in death by his grandson Eddie Shrum. He was retired from Gaylord Enterprises. Survived by two children Thomas Merritt, Jr. and Ruth Ann (H.T.) Beckham. Other survivors include brothers Alfred Merritt; James (Gayle) Merritt, and sister Gertude Burnette, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also survived by a devoted, loving and caring friend Bobbie Weakley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
