Sr. Richard Mangelsdorf

Richard Charles Mangelsdorf, Sr., age 81, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Franklin, TN with Rev. Ryan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the hour of service at the church. Richard was born October 12, 1932 in Moline, Illinois to the late Carl and Sadie Mangelsdorf. He worked the majority of his life as a civil engineer in bridge construction. He was a member of Bethlehem UMC and the Middle TN Seniors Golf Club. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Harris Mangelsdorf; brother, Carl Jr., sister, Donna; also his four-legged companions; Gretchen, Phoebe, Yankee, Snapper and Jack. He is survived by his children, Richard Charles Mangelsdorf, Jr., Todd Henry Mangelsdorf and Susan (Kevin) Mangelsdorf Archey; sisters, Janet Mullinax, Judy Rose; grandchildren, Christian, Reid, Bailey, Sadie, William, Penelope and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, as well as, his four legged grandchild Boone.
