Sfc Pete Kennedy (Ret)

A celebration of Life service for Pete Delmer Kennedy, age 83 of Clarksville, will be Wednesday, Apr 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home. Brother Jeff Burris will officiate. Burial will follow at KY Veterans Cemetery West where full military honors will be rendered.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Apr 24, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and again on Wednesday, Apr 25, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Service on Tuesday at 6:00 PM. Pete passed away on Friday, Apr 20, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare.  He was born on Sep 24, 1934 in Hardman County, TN to William and Alberta Kennedy.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Bethlehem and member of the Masonic Lodge #761.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mary Wilbanks Kennedy, son Mike (Paula) Kennedy, daughter Lesa (Neal) Rogowitz, brother Bobby Kennedy, sister Eunice Poindexter, grandchildren; Kyle Dunaway, Nick Dunaway, Matt (Jordan) McWhirter, Josh McWhirter,Taylor McWhirter, and Laurie (Stewart) Salyer, and great-grandchildren; Maddy, Audrey, Gabriel, and Gavin.

Pete proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired after 22 years. During his military career he was an instructor at West Point and he served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. He received a Bronze Star with "V" device and 1st OLC along with other medals and awards.

While he enjoyed camping and fishing, Pete loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a selfless man who was so giving to everyone. He has left a void no one will ever fill, and he is already greatly missed by all who love him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church St. Bethlehem Building Fund.
