Sfc Joseph Willis, Jr. Army (Ret)

A Celebration of Life service for SFC Joseph Gilbert Willis, Jr. ARMY (Ret), 72, of Indian Mound will be Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Joseph was born in Ashland, OH on June 13, 1948 to Joseph, Sr. and Jeanette Willis.

Joseph retired from the United States Army after 21 years of service. During his time in the military, he received a Meritorious Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and numerous other awards. He enjoyed carpentry and was very artistic. Joseph was in every way a true craftsman.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kirk Smith; and sisters, Sharon and Sally. Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Evans Willis; children: Joseph (Margaret) Willis, III, Kelly Smith, and George (Sunshine) Willis; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and brothers: Kenneth, Keith, and Gary.
