Sfc Joseph Oliver, Army (Ret)

A Celebration of Life service for SFC Joseph David Oliver, ARMY (Ret), age 66, of Woodlawn, TN, will be Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. Bro. Phillip Hinton will officiate. Burial will follow at Dotsonville Church of Christ Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends Monday, October 3, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and again on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.

Joseph was born on September 20, 1956 in Clarksville, TN to Joseph Edward and Patricia Mericle Oliver who preceded him in death. He passed away on September 29, 2022. Joseph retired from the United States Army after 23 years of duty, spending some of that time in Desert Storm. He was a member of Dotsonville Church of Christ and DAV 101st Chapter. Joseph loved spending time with his family and camping. He enjoyed woodworking, decorating for holidays, and his flower garden.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Peggy Deal Oliver; daughters, Lillian (Dennis) Watson and Joanne (Chase) McGuire; siblings, Becky (Mike) Launsby and Gerald (Sandy) Oliver; and grandchildren: Corbin, Curtis, Callan, and Aiden.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department.
