Sam Lynwood Leech

A Celebration of Life service for Sam Lynwood "BirdDog" Leech, 90, will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Crossroads Church of God in White Bluff, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Leech Cemetery.

Sam passed away on December 16, 2023 at TriStar Centennial Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on March 13, 1933 in Charlotte, TN to Sam Pat and Dollie Ashworth Leech. 

Sam served in the United States Army and was a proud Korean War veteran. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4641. He began working at the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs until he later retired after 40+ years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, listening to country music, telling tall tales, and making people laugh.

In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death by his siblings: Daisy Morgan, Wallace Leech, Juanita Knight, George Leech, Bobby Leech, and Connie Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Oneida Leech; daughter, Tosha ( R.W.) Curtis; son Patrick (Jennifer) Leech; granddaughter Samantha Leech, and many nieces and nephews.
