Ruth Thompson, age 85 of Clarksville, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at Gateway Medical Center. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Sykes Funeral Home and on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Sykes Funeral Home. Internment will follow 10:00 am Thursday, June 6, 2013 at KY Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY. Ruth was born April 18, 1928 in Weidenau, Germany to the late Walter and Martha Friederichs. She moved to the United States June 6, 1954 and received her citizenship April 15, 1958. She was a member of the Edelweiss Club, a retired supervisor of Montgomery Ward and also a retired realtor. Ruth received the Million Dollar Sales Award multiple times.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, James R. Thompson; sister Gisela Friederichs-Bram; brothers, Hans and Reiner Friederichs.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughters, Barbara Byard, Sandra (Jerry) Scott, and Melanie Thompson of Clarksville and Linda Thompson of Houston, TX; son Ralph W. (Rita)Thompson of Troutdale, OR; Nine grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren and 12 Nieces and Nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a memorial donation be made to the Salvation Army, 208 Kraft St. Clarksville, TN 37040 or Montgomery County Humane Society, PO Box 571, Clarksville, TN 37041.
