Rev. Michael Whobrey

Funeral service for Rev. Michael Lee Whobrey will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 6:30 pm at Immanuel Gospel Fellowship Church 107 Archwood Dr. Madison, TN with the family receiving friends before the service from 4:30pm-6:30pm with Rev. Mark Thomas officiating. Rev. Thomas co pastored with Michael for 17 years.

There will be another service in Indiana on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Pleasant Chapel General Baptist Church 1305 W Florida Street Evansville, IN at 1:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 11:00am-1:00pm. Entombment will be at Alexander Memorial Park in Evansville.

Pallbearers will be; Brandon Whobrey, Dustin Whobrey, Pete Andrecht, Terry,  Doug and Jamie Fulkerson.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Whobrey, and survived by his mother Opal Whobrey, brothers; David (Debra) Whobrey, Dennis ( Debbie) Whobrey, sister, Melody (Randy) Barnabee, nephews; Brandon Whobrey, Dustin Whobrey, Trevor Barnabee, nieces; Tera Andrecht, Bria Porter, and many great nieces , nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael passed away on May 27,2017 at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville. He was born in Evansville, IN to Ernest Maurice and Opal Mae(Underwood)Whobrey. He is the eldest of 4 children. Mike graduated from North High School. He felt God called him to serve in ministry and he pastored for 51 years at churches in Indiana, Illinois, and Tennessee. God blessed Mike with an ear for music and he played the piano, organ, and accordion as a youth. He was a gifted singer and sang in the Collegiate Quartet during high school and after graduating. He was a member of the Beatty's gospel group and sang and played at many churches throughout his life. He recorded several cd's. Mike loved taking trips to Gatlinburg with friends and family. He often visited his family in Evansville and helped care for his parents. Mike loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He was generous and loving and will be greatly missed by many. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Special thanks to the people of Immanuel Gospel Fellowship who showed such love and generosity during Mike's illness. You are a blessing!
