Rev. Howard Herndon

Rev. Howard Eugene Herndon, Sr., 88, Cumberland Furnace, died Friday, January 8, 2010, at in Erin.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Sykes Funeral Home with Rev. John Casey and Bro. Bobby Herndon officiating.
Burial will be in Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. until hour of service Sunday at Sykes Funeral Home.

Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
A Masonic Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Sykes Funeral Home.
Rev. Herndon was born in Montgomery County on May 24, 1921 to the late Thomas and Ina Smith Herndon. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Buck Herndon.
He was retired from the Montgomery County School System as a teacher and was a retired Methodist minister. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of McAllister Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by wife, Barbara K. Herndon, Cumberland Furnace; son, Howard Eugene Herndon, Jr., Nashville; daughter, Delta (Danny) Yarbrough, Cunningham; brother, Thomas Herndon, Cunningham; sister, Mabel Smith, Clarksville; granddaughter, Emily (Heath) Frimel; great-grandchildren, Payton, Heath, Jr., Colby and Anakin Frimel.
Pallbearers will be Micah Herndon, Howell Smith, Daniel Herndon, Philip Buckner, Arlon Herndon, David Dunn and Heath Frimel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Memorial Fund, 1410 Golf Club Lane, Clarksville, TN 37040
