It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of PFC Dakota Joseph Mortagua, born on September 23, 1999 in Fall River, MA. Dakota passed away on December 12, 2023 in Ft Campbell, KY.
Dakota was a Cannon Crewmember in the US Army stationed at Ft Campbell, KY. He had recently returned from a military mission in Europe. He was a patriot who was passionate about his service to his country. He was a bright light in the lives of those who knew him. His infectious smile and laughter will be remembered and cherished forever.
In his free time, Dakota enjoyed football, cars, and racing. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was a kind and generous person who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Dakota is survived by his parents, Augustine Mortagua Jr and Denise Pickersgill, sisters, Sherrieanne Barry-Mortagua, Samantha Mortagua, Aiyana Mortagua, brothers, Robert Pickersgill, William Mills, Michael Karr, Bo Ridlon, Trevor Mortagua, grandmother, Yvonne Manley as well as 1 niece and 4 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Augustine Mortagua Sr., Loretta Mortagua, and Frank Manley, Frances Woods, as well as his brother Hunter Mortagua.
Dakota will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A viewing will be held on December 29th, 2023 at Sykes Funeral Home, 424 Franklin Street, Clarksville TN 37040 from 1pm to 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Trees For Troops in Dakota's memory.
