Oscar Devers

Oscar James Devers, 87, Clarskville, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lance Parker officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Devers was born July 15, 1922 in Montgomery County, son of the late Sterling James Devers and Beulah Rowland Devers. In addition to his parents Mr. Devers was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Mae Jones Devers, a son Terry Devers, a brother Billy Devers and a sister Betty Lou Lewis.
Mr. Devers was retired from the City of Clarksville and a Baptist.
He is survived by a son; Dean (Judy) Devers, Clarksville, daughters; Mary Sue (Ronnie) Holt, Clarksville, Rose Sanders, Clarksville, Judy (Danny) Gauldin Mebane,NC, Nancy (Dwight) Bearden, Cunningham, TN and Bonnie Devers(David) Narron, Wilmington,NC, brother; RD "Buddy" Devers, Clarksville, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Schmelz, Lee Davis, Chris Davis, Jerry Devers, Deno Devers, Barry Devers, Billy Devers II, and Frank Devers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
