Ora Mcwhorter

Ora Claudine Austin McWhorter, 86, Clarksville, died Thursday, December 23, 2010, at her residence. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Sykes Funeral Home with Rev. B.J. Brack officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Monday at Sykes Funeral Home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McWhorter was born in Stewart County, TN on May 23, 1924 to the late Elbert Morton and Oma Merle Keatts Austin. She was also preceded in death by a son, Andrew Mark McWhorter and a sister, Evaline Austin. She was a member of the New Providence UMC and retired from Jostens Yearbook Publishing Company. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Dudley McWhorter; daughter, Lana Marie McWhorter-Flatt; grandchildren, Chad Andrew McWhorter, Lynn Edward McWhorter, Jill Marlynn Clendening, Matthew Wayne Flatt, Mia Renee Claudine Flatt, Tiffany Sander; 16 great grandchldren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chad McWhorter, Lynn McWhorter, Anthony Chester, Mike McWhorter, Eric West and Dwight McWhorter. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, American Heart Association or the New Providence UMC.
