Opal Nolen Blackwell, age 90, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Spring Meadows Health Care Center. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at Greenwood Cemetery with Bro. Steve Kirby officiating. Visitation will be today from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m at Sykes Funeral Home. Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Blackwell was born December 27, 1921 in Stewart County, TN to the late Edward and Mary Snoddy Nolen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, R. B. Backwell. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, June (Dorris) Griffy of Clarksville, Brenda Smith of Clarksville; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Griffy, Michael Griffy, Marcus Griffy, Zackery Griffy, Dwayne Mills, Jesse Mills.
