Oliver "Buck" Wright

Oliver "Buck" Buckner Wright, 81 of Clarksville passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Grace Healthcare.  Funeral service will be conducted Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Mackens officiating.  Burial will follow at First Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.  Mr. Wright was born in Clarksville TN son of the late Bailey R. Wright and the late Gustie Mae Heflin Wright.  In addition to his parents, Oliver was preceded in death by his sons; Mitchell Wright, Doug Wright, grandson Phillip Wright, sisters Bailey Mae Jones and Peggy Jean and brother in law Michael Heitzman.
Mr. Wright was a veteran of the United States Army and active in coaching Little League in Clarksville and St. Bethlehem for many years.  He loved playing pool with his family and friends.  Oliver attended Lighthouse Baptist Church, and volunteered for several years by serving Thanksgiving dinners and a mission trip to the Appalachian Mountains where he helped repair homes, rebuild a bridge and donated clothing and food to those in need.  He also volunteered with the Reconnect LIFE Solutions, (A Service of Centerstone).
Oliver is survived by sons;  Alan Dale (Hen) Wright, Michael (Susan) Wright, Mark (Bridgitte) Wright, Matt (Cyna) Wright, Chris (Jennifer) Wright, and daughters;  Sheila Uddin and Debbie (David) Saunders, daughter-in-law; Liz, a sister; Betty Heitzman and grandchildren;  Sabrina, Rachel, Dale, Jr. Wright, Janice Nixon, Shannon, Jennifer, Steven, Zachary, Taylor, Joey, Tasha, Danielle, Sid Wright, Desiree Yarbrough, Megan Powers, Christopher, Heather, Nicholas, Kenneth, Haley, Danny, Tony, Adam Wright, Dylan and Cheyenne Saunders, and many great-grandchildren with additions on the way.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Robert A. Ellis 1753 Skelton Dr. Clarksville tn 37040.
