Myra Kennon Sylvester age 97 of Nashville, formerly of Rowayton and Wilton CT, passed away holding her daughter's hand on Jan 15,2019. She was born in Burlington, VT November 20,1921 to Blaisdell Caine and Kathleen Pickett Kennon. Myra was the oldest of 5 children.As a daughter of a Colonel in the Army, Myra was well traveled, which sparked her desire to always learn more. She graduated from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and promptly enlisted in the Navy serving as a Private Specialist in charge of a 500 person Barracks(women) at the U.S. Naval Training School, Bronx, NY. Upon completion of 2yrs service she then proceeded to follow her passion for Political Science as a grad student at Boston University. It was there she met Major Delmont Joseph Sylvester also a grad student. They married in June of 1950. Stationed in Chaumont, France in the early 60's, they adopted their daughter, Caroline. The little girl was the light of her mother's eye and she decided that being a full time mom was what she desired. Mrs. Sylvester was actively involved in her community, particularly in the League of Women Voters and Public Health Nursing Association. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 4 siblings and a great-grandchild, McKinley Lanpher.
Myra is survived by her daughter Caroline (Bruce) Wildfeuer; grandchildren: Kendall and Brendan Rotunda, and Rainna Stapelfeldt; great-granddaughters: Auden and Lennon; and several nieces and nephews.
