A Celebration of Life Service for MSG Carlos "Carl" Gene Hayes, Sr. (Ret), age 77 of Clarksville, will be Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Mr. Hayes passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at his residence. He was born on December 6, 1940 in Lowmansville, KY, a son of the late Carl and Florence (Murray) Hayes. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Janet Crace and brother Gerald Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was a member of First Baptist Church, Oak Grove, KY.
He was retired from the United States Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam, and was awarded numerous awards including the Bronze Star Medal. After retirement he worked for Army contractors for 25 years and retired from DynCorp in 2006.
Mr. Hayes was a member of Masonic Lodge 761, Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. Also, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. After he retired from the Army he attended Austin Peay State University.
Survivors include his loving wife Janice Lynch Hayes, daughters: Belinda (Wayne) Meadows, Wheat Ridge, CO; Carol (Charles) Geisewite, Cedar Park, TX; Pamela (Michael) Herman, Golden, CO, son Carlos Hayes, Jr., Clarksville, TN; stepdaughters: Rhonda (Kevin) Kennedy, Lisa (Tony) Huffman Campos, Krystal (Roy) Jenkins, all of Clarksville, sister Brenda Carter, Flat Rock, MI, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
