Moreen Barbara Shannon (Milovina), loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aged 76, died following surgery on April 12, 2014 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Moreen was born March 24, 1938, in Oroville, California, the only child of Nick and Barbara Milovina.
In 1959, Moreen married the love of her live, William (Bill) Shannon. They lived in Hermosa Beach, Cupertino, Oxnard, & Arroyo Grande, California until moving permanently to Clarksville, Tennessee in 2008
.
Moreen was the first in her family to graduate from college, attending the UCLA School of Nursing and graduating in 1959. She had a long career in the nursing field of over 30 years. Her vast knowledge helped her to excel from direct patient care on to administration. She also was able to travel to foreign locations and provide support and assistance as needed in the medical field.
Moreen enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlework, cooking and traveling. During her life she and Bill traveled to China, Panama, Mexico, Canada, and throughout the United States. Moreen loved to hold the grandbabies and to spend time just cuddling and rocking.
Over the course of her life she was active in a number of organizations including AAUW, Camp Fire Girls, Brush Poppers, Future Farmers of America, CASA, People to People International, Elks Lodge, and a number of various nursing organizations.
Moreen is survived by her loving husband Bill, and her three children; Merri Williamson (John) of Whitefish, Montana; Denise Crawford (Perry) of Woodland, California; Paul Shannon (Danna) of Clarksville, Tennessee. She has 8 beautiful grandchildren, Jennifer, Meaghan, Ashley, Adam, Samantha, Cassie, Julia and Kyle and 7 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tayden, Jackson, Rembrandt, Clementine, Tanner, and Thomas.
A memorial reception will be held on Tuesday, April 15 from 4p-7p at the family home. Private internment services will be held at a later date at Conejo Mountain Memorial Cemetery in Camarillo, Ca where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice in her name.
