Funeral service for Lucille Modene Bateman Adkins, age 87 of Cunningham, will be Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Mike Raines and Bro. Phillip Chambers will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church.
Modene passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was born on November 15, 1929 in Montgomery County, TN to Hatton and Estelle (Dawson) Bateman. Modene was a founding member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Modene was a Gold Star wife after losing her second husband, William Nelson Loving "Billy", in the Korean War.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Elza Adkins, and her brother, Hatton Bateman, Jr. "Buddy".
She is survived by her sons; Stanley (Tina) Poole, and Cameron (Teresa) Adkins, grandchildren; Brittani (Sidney) Sigears, Meghan (Mike) Black, and CJ Adkins; great-grandchildren, Lillie and Shawn Morrison, Bella Rose Black, Hunter and Destiny Sigears; nieces and nephews, Denise Hardy, Kevin Bateman, Mark Bateman, Lisa Ray, Wendy Araya, and Cinda Perry; first cousins, Frances Harrison, Mary Sue Defoe, Lucille Richardson, Jim Dawson and Clarence Dawson; sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dot" Shores, and many great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be CJ Adkins, Lillie, Shawn, and Chris Morrison, Hunter, Destiny, and Sidney Sigears. Honorary pallbearers will be AB Baggett, Greg Morrison, and Dean Christy.
