Mattie Ellen Fly, 92, Clarksville, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Alive Hospice Skyline. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday , June 24th at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Madewell officiating. Burial will be in Woodall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m until the time of service Wednesday at the church at the church. Mrs. Fly was born September 24, 1916, in Cheatham County, daughter of Charles A. and Eva Jarrell Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband John S. Fly.
Mrs. Fly was a homemaker and member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. Survived by her son Charles Fly and wife Judy, of Nashville; and brother Paul E. Stewart of Clarksville. Her grandchildren are Ellen (Kevin) Sherrill, Nashville; James (Piper) Fly, Mt.Juliet; Emily (John) Phillips, Portland, OR, and Carrie Fly, Johnson City. Great granddaughters are Morgan Sherrill and Adelaide Fly.
Friends at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
