Matthew David Pietrangelo, beloved father, son, brother, and fiancé passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the age of 39. He is survived by his son, Lucas Byron Pietrangelo, his fiancé, Diana Livaudais, and his former wife and best friend, Lauren Pietrangelo, all of Clarksville, Tennessee; parents David and Teresa Pietrangelo, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; brothers Peter (Suzann) Pietrangelo, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Nickolas (Amber) Pietrangelo, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; along with niece and nephews Alessandro, Samuel, Wendy and David. Matthew will be greatly missed by all.
Matthew was born on May 27, 1984, and grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He served as a proud Marine after he graduated from Sault Area High School in 2003. After his time in the Marines, he joined the Army, last stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, until he was honorably discharged in 2021. He had a great love of cooking, and like his father before him took great pride in feeding anyone who came through his doors. He had a gift for making people laugh, and his personality drew many friends. He was a leader of Clarksville Chive, where he spearheaded local and national charity events that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and enriched the Clarksville area.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, at First Church of Christ, 300 W. Spruce St., Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Melanie Pierce (cousin of Teresa) will preside. The family will have a time together at 10 a.m., the community is welcome at 11 a.m., and the memorial service will be at 12 noon with a lunch following. Burial arrangements will be determined at a later date. There will also be a celebration of Matthew's life in Clarksville, Tennessee, from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Liberty Park, with a picnic for family and friends.
