Mary Painter

Mary E. Proctor Painter, 85, Southside, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rye's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Painter was born September 21,1924 in Southside, daughter of the late John R. Proctor and Henrietta Groves. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse W. Painter, her son Donald A. Painter, and grandson Sammie Williams. Mrs. Painter returned to Tennessee about ten years ago, prior to that time she lived in Illinois. Mrs. Painter was a machine operater in the Garment Industry, and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her daughter Nancy A. Williams of Joliet, IL; brothers John Proctor and Russell (Ailene) Proctor both of Southside, a sister Lois Reich of Joliet, IL. She has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. www.sykesfuneralhome.com
