Mary E. Nulty received her heavenly crown on January 14th, 2021. Born June 15, 1936 in Louisiana, Mary moved to Nashville as a teenager where she met her future husband. As an active military couple, the two would travel much of the world before moving to Palmyra, TN where they would live for over sixty years. Over those years Mary loved to cook, sew, read, tend to her flower gardens and bird feeders, and take care of the many cats and dogs that she took in. Her employers included PICC, The Catfish House, and Diane’s Diner, where she worked well into her seventies. However, her greatest calling and love was to her family and friends, who all knew her as Mema. She shared a special bond with her surviving brother George and sister Georgia. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Charles S., a son Charles G. (Buddy), two great grandchildren, and several siblings. Her legacy continues through six children, Teresa (Mike) Biggs, Daniel, Sonya “Kay-K”, Robin, Joel (Stephanie), and Michael. She is also survived by 14 Grandchildren: Kristin, Heather, Adam, Brandy, Jennifer, Cody, Matthew, Jordan, Jaime, Sarah, Justin, Hunter, Melanie, and Michelle and 18 great grandchildren. The family is grateful to all those who loved Mema and those who cared for her in these final months: Hillcrest Clinic, Hospice, and in particular Michael, Sara, Lil, Stephanie, Adam, Melissa, Paul, and Michelle. Donations in Mary’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a later date.
