Mary Gupton

A Celebration of Life service for Mary Lucy Gupton, age 86, of Clarksville, will be Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service.

She was born in Putnam County on April 12, 1937 to the late Noah Monroe and Daisy Netherton Smith. She departed this life Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Spring Meadows Health Care Center. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, SGT Irvin Linwood Gupton II (WWII US Army), sister Thelma Gupton, and brothers William Lloyd and Douglas Smith.

She was a homemaker and always had a can of Bruton’s snuff with her. She enjoyed her yard sales, working puzzle books and watching her soap operas and western shows daily. Fried chicken and coffee would always put a smile on her face but her family is what she loved the most and would do anything for them.

She is survived by her children, Gladys (Danny) White, Wilma Felts, Bessie Hunter, Irvin Linwood Gupton III, Betty Comperry, Vickie Gupton and grandchildren Woodrow Lang, Vicky White, Stephanie (Andre) Thomas, David (Jennifer) Felts, Irvin Linwood Gupton IV, Brandy Gupton, Megan (Dan) Scholz, Cody (Lexi) Gupton, Samantha (RJ) Sherbin, Tiffany Morrill and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a big thanks to all the staff at Spring Meadows Nursing Home for all the exceptional care and compassion they provided for her since 2019.
