Ethel Marie Unkel, 78 of Clarksville passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at her home. Funeral service is Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Terry Brown and Brother Mike Harrison officiating. Burial will be in First Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Marie was born October 3, 1937 in Montgomery County daughter of the late Paul "PD" Ellis and the late Lila Baggett Ellis. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Before retirement Marie was in the nursing field as an LPN. She attended Hilldale Baptist Church where she was an active member of the choir. Marie is survived by her husband August Joseph Unkel, sons; Johnny Michael (Kay) Lyle, Michael Joseph (Dorothy) Unkel, David Joseph Unkel, Charles Joseph Unkel, John Steven Unkel, daughters; Connie (Robert) Thomas, Bonnie (Robert) Maynard, Laura Ann (Michael) Young and Mary (Michael) Treat, eighteen grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and sister; Alice Eckenrod.
Family members will be pallbearers. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Marie's memory to Hilldale Baptist Church Choir, 2001 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37043.
