Margaret `Peggy` Norris, 88, Clarksville, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Alive Hospice, Skyline Madison Campus.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Graveside.
Burial will be in Norris Cemetery in Palmyra.
Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Peggy was born in Nesquohoning Pennsylvania on April 17, 1920 to the late John and Helen Guy. She was the widow of Frank Norris of Clarksville.
She was a member of the National Honor Society. She moved to New York City where she was employed by the public relations firm of Constance Hope and studied art at the prestigious Art Students League. During the 1939 New York City Worlds Fair she participated in an exhibit featuring the leading business technologies of the day. Immediately following the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Peggy joined the Waves as an Apprentice Seaman and attended Hunter College where she trained as a Morse Code Operator. Following the war, she married Frank Norris, son of Dr. Robert L. Norris of Palmyra. She and Frank moved to Springfield, TN where she served as president of the PTA. In 1955 they moved to Clarksville where Peggy was active in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; The Urban Ministries and served on the administrative staff at Austin Peay State University.
Peggy is survived by four children; Linda Lanz of Opelika, AL, Frank (Dayna) Norris of Salt Lake City, UT, Bill (Janet) Norris of Eatonton, GA; and Lissa (Jim) Lebster of Chicago, IL; two grandsons, Jason (Lea) Lanz of Lexington, VA and Judson Coleman of Chicago, IL; and one great-granddaughter, Mo Lanz of Lexington, VA.
