Margaret Evelyn (Smith) Dowdy, 81, Clarksville, died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Montgomery Care and Rehab. The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bro. E. G. Sims officiating. Burial will be in Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sykes Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Dowdy was born May 20, 1929 in Sango, TN to the late Walter L. Smith, Sr. and the late Mary Etha (Poole) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Dowdy and a granddaughter, Melanie Renee Dowdy Ward. She was retired from the former Clarksville Memorial Hospital as a surgical nurse with over 35 years service. She was also a faithful member of the Bethel Cumberland Presyterian Church. She was loved by many friends, her family and those with whom she served in the medical profession. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten. She is survived by son, William Patrick (Carolyn) Dowdy of Clarksville; grandchildren, Laurie Dowdy Sahr Stewart, Shannon Patrick Dowdy; great-grandchildren, Jordan Ward, Ryan Ward, Sheldon Ward, Devon Sahr and Derrick Sahr.
