MAJ John Williams Gahring (Ret) 1938-2018

A Celebration of Life service for MAJ John W. Gahring (Ret) will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 12:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy in Columbia, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday for one hour before the service. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. John passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Maury County Hospital in Columbia, Tn. He was born on August 5, 1938 in Tidioute, Pennsylvania to Kenneth and Mildred Gahring. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Philip and David Gahring. John retired from the United States Army as a decorated Major earning numerous commendations to include; two Bronze Star Medals and an Army Commendation Medal. Upon retirement, he owned his own cabinet company and later worked in human resources for a manufacturing company. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Gail Gahring; son, John (Rebecca) Gahring; daughters, Kay (Gregory) Baxter and Vicki Gahring (Leslie Lorance); brothers, Joe and Paul Gahring; sisters, Alice Huston, Mary Ann Ducharme, and Christine Gahring; grandchildren, Tiley Gahring and Cooper Baxter.
