Ltc (Ret) August Seibert

Funeral service for LTC (Ret) August George Seibert will be Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial following at Kentucky Veterans West Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the funeral home from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 Am until 11:30 AM.

Gus passed away on September 28th, 2017 at his residence surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Katherine E. Seibert and his daughter Kathy Marie Fischer. He is survived by his daughters Terry Anne (Bill) Kotas and Margaret Jo (Nick) Ward as well as his grandchildren Eric Shifflett, William A. Kotas, Mary Katherine Taylor, Megan Ward and William Ward along with four great grandchildren.
He was born August 9th, 1924 in Ludlow, KY to August F. Seibert and Marie Warther Seibert as the Second of ten children. He entered the US Army in October 1942 at the age of 18. He served in the pacific theatre of WWII with distinction earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, going on to earn a battlefield commission. He also served in Korea where he earned a Silver Star for valor and another Purple Heart. He also served in Vietnam.
After retiring with having served 30 years in the US military with the rank of Lt. Col. he persued a second career as a radio salesman with WDXN country music radio. Fondly known as "Uncle Gus" his career there spanned 20 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Clarksville Kiwanis Club.  He was the oldest living member of the Knights of Columbus in the Clarksville area achieving the rank of third degree Knight.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed smoking his pipe and was a lifetime fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Along with being incredibly charitable, he was also an unconditionally loving family man.
