Loretta Scott Mahan was born to Osom W. Scott and Carriebell Barlow Scott in Chicago, Illinois on July 11, 1940. From the time she was a child, Loretta Mahan proved that she was a unique individual with amazing commitment and focus. She was privileged to be raised by both, her mother and grandmother. While living with her grandmother, she worked in the garden, took piano lessons, and went to church. She graduated from Burke Elementary School and attended Du Sable High School in Chicago, Illinois.
Loretta Mahan was united in holy matrimony to her late husband Maurice Mahan in Chicago, Illinois on August 25, 1957.
Loretta Mahan relocated to Clarksville, Tennessee in the year 2000 to reside near her daughters Donna and Lisa Mahan. Loretta spent the majority of her time giving unconditional love and providing spiritual and moral support and guidance to her family. Loretta also spent a lot of her time donating and sending letters to the children at St. Jude Research Hospital located in Memphis, Tennessee.
Loretta will be especially missed for her kindred spirit and beautiful presence by all.
She passed to her Heavenly Reward quietly on February 02, 2015 at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee. Her father, mother, 5 brothers, Osom, Herbert, Norman, David, and Gordon and four sisters, Carol, Sandra, Juanita, Kathleen and her son Steven preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Maurice and Paul both working and residing in the Philippines; her daughter, Donna of Nashville, Tennessee; her daughter, Lisa of Clarksville, Tennessee; her brother, Harry R. Parks III of Clarksville, Tennessee; her sister-in-law, Carol Juna Parks of Clarksville, Tennessee, her sister-in-law, Emma Scott of Carbondale Illinois; and her Great Uncle, Charles Giles of Chicago Illinois; her grandchildren Dominique Gadison, Jaria Bowman, James E Bowman JR, Maurice Mahan III, Brianna Bonner, Steven Mahan, James D. Bowman, Aaron Mahan, and Anthony Mahan, and her four great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends.
