It is with great sadness that the family of Linda S. Winford announces her passing on January 21, 2025, at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on February 18, 1947, in Liverworth, Tennessee, to Lois Perry and R.B. Winford. She was known for her selflessness and tremendous sense of humor.
Linda enjoyed a 37-year career with AT&T/ Bell South as a lineman fiber optic cable splicer. She was one of the first female linemen to climb a telephone pole. She immensely enjoyed exhibiting and raising Rhodesian Ridgebacks, several of which were among the top ten in the breed in the US.
She is loved and severely missed by her spouse and partner of 43 years, Kathy Lyons, and by their four children, Ronald, Rosemary, Robert, and Chelsea Rebecca Lyons-Winford. As well as cousins Connie, Bonnie, Kay, Eddie, Brenda, Mike, and Tony, and very special friends Barbara, Barb, Liz, Kelly, Paula, and Julie. She is also grateful to nurses Lydia, Sarah, Tracy, and Velma for the exceptional care of Rebecca. Linda’s legacy of kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
