Lewis Benjamin Grant, Jr., age 91, of Southside, passed away March 26, 2015. The funeral will be held 2:00 Monday, March 30, 2015 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Falls officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral. The Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again on Monday beginning at 12:00 pm until the hour of service at Sykes Funeral Home.
Lewis was born April 14, 1923 in Montgomery County, son of the late Lewis Benjamin Grant, Sr. and Ruby Scruggs Grant. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Marian Kaye Grant and sisters, Sara Arms, Margaret Smith, Dorothy Kennedy and Rebecca Raddatz.
Mr. Grant retired from Ford Motor Company and UAW 737 Union. He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and served in the United States Navy in World War II.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret Greene Grant; one son, Gerald (Cathy) Grant of Brentwood, TN; one daughter, Sheila (Bruce) Rowen, of Hendersonville, TN; two brothers, Benard Grant and Rodney (Beverly) Grant, of Gardner, IL; one sister, Gladys Baggett, of Cumberland Furnace, TN; three grandchildren, Benjamin Grant, Kacie Maercker, Charles Cunningham, Jr.; one step-granddaughter, Katie Rowen; three great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Grant, Charles Cunningham, Jr., Duane Grant, Bobby Smith, Clyde (Buddy) Sexton, Charles Hall, John Stephens and Steven Corlew.
