Ret. CSM Leroy Thompson Sr., age 82, of Woodlawn TN, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Gateway Medical Center. Military Honors for Leroy will be Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Kentucky Veterans West at 2:00 PM. He was born May 21, 1933 in Canmer KY, son of the late Robert Thompson and the late Lenora Jordan. He was a career military man. After serving 30 years, he retired in 1983 from the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell. He did three tours of Vietnam and received numerous medals and letters of commendation/appreciation throughout his career. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ingrid Thompson, Woodlawn TN; sons, Leroy Thompson Jr., Clarksville, TN and Michael Thompson, Clarksville, TN; Sisters, Rachel Thompson, College Park, GA, Josephine Crawford, Detroit, MI, Stella Rice, Park City, KY, and Lulu Ramsey, Louisville, KY; Brothers, Herman Thompson, Elgin, IL, Robert Thompson, Canmer, KY, Roger Thompson, Louisville, KY, and Jerry Thompson, Stone Mountain, GA. Leroy's request was to be cremated. In his memory, donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
