Lavelle Chase

November 6, 1926 — July 28, 2015

Memorial service for Lavelle Chase, age 88 of Clarksville, will be Sunday, Aug 02, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Sykes Funeral Home Chapel. Lavelle  passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at her residence.

She was born on Nov 06, 1926 in Sladen, TN to the late Roy J. Williams and Jessie Williams. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother James Williams and sister, Maurine Singleton. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanie Link, Lynne Allen; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Lavelle Chase was a woman of accomplishments. The dearest one was that she was mother to Jeanie Link and Lynne Allen, grandmother to Heather Link, Dustin Link and Trace Hunt. She was also a great-grandmother to Cooper, Gracie and Kaelie Link.  She was an intelligent, strong willed and independent woman. When she was in her forties, she enlisted in the Peace Corps and lived for two years in Ghana Africa.  She came home only one time during then, and that was for the wedding of her second daughter. When she finished her tour there, she traveled around Europe on her own. When she came home she got her real estate license and sold homes for the next 25 years or so in Nebr. and Ariz. When she retired from selling she moved to her childhood home, Clarksville. At one time many of her relatives lived in the area.  She was very interested in her family's background and researched it. She worked for the Tennessee Aging Center for several years. She loved her time spent at the Ajax/Turner Senior Center where she played cards, participated in pot luck lunches, and just visited with friends. Other things she enjoyed were: doing hard crossword puzzles, watching and guessing most answers on Jeopardy, playing games on her computer, gardening, growing flowers, tomatoes, herbs and more, exchanging emails with friends and family, going out to lunch and talking on the phone.  She was up to date on current events, styles and life.  She hardly slowed down at all.  We will miss her wit,her knowledge and her love. Online condolences may be made at www.sykesfuneralhome.com .
