Laura Maynard

A Celebration of Life for Laura Bell Maynard, age 96, of Cunningham, Tennessee, will be Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Hopewell Baptist Church in Cunningham, TN with Bro. David Mackens officiating. Visitation will be at the church from Noon until the time of service. Burial will be at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Curtis Rodenhaber, George Stallings, George Daughtery, Michael Rigsby, Chaz Stallings, and Gavin Rodenhaber.

Laura Bell Hembree Maynard joined her Savior and heavenly family on January 25, 2019. She was born to William A. and Birdie Hembree. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost 70 years, Robert Earl Maynard; son, Greg Maynard; daughter, Kathy (Michael) Rigsby; grandson, Jeff Bullard; brothers, Cordell, Jean, and Billy Hembree; and sisters, Estelle Bromley and Bea Golden.

She is survived by her daughter, Jayne (George) Daughtery; sister, Geneva (Robert) Taylor; grandson, Robert Maynard Jr.; granddaughters Amy (George) Stallings, Kellie (Curtis) Rodenhaber, and Lindsay (Josh) Regalado; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her devoted caretaker, Nelda Williamson.

She was a licensed insurance agent and worked alongside her husband for the Maynard Insurance Agency. She was the oldest member of Hopewell Baptist Church and served there in many capacities. One of her greatest joys was cooking and feeding anyone who walked through her door.

Her strong Christian faith was the source of her strength. She was a dedicated, selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. She was the epitome of love and acceptance. Her spunk and quick wit were endearing to all who knew her; and her home was always a welcoming and joyful place for all who gathered there.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hopewell Baptist Church, Cunningham, Tennessee 37052. Sykes Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
