Katy Irene Burress, age 92 of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at her residence. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Byron Dumas officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 and 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burress was born July 18, 1922 in Houston County, TN to the late B.L. and Minnie Susan Wyatt Adkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James H. Burress.
She was a member of the Mt. Carmel UMC and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a 1956 graduate of Austin Peay College.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen (Lambros Lianos) Gooch, Susan Burress-Binkley; grandchildren, Christopher "C.J." James Gooch, Katherine "Katie" Gooch Halecky, Charles "Jake" Jacob Binkley and great-grandchild, Megan Ridley Halecky.
