June Simmons

June Carol Simmons of Big Rock, TN died the morning of September 11th at age 83. Born in Ohio to William D. Nickerson and Mary Anna Whitecotton, she was the first of 4 chlidren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Cosmo Narciso, daughter Cynthia Narciso and brothers William Nickerson II, and Hugh “Whitey” Nickerson. She is survived by her husband Phillip Simmons, Sister Mary Luth, son Jan Narciso, daughters, Chrystal Narciso, Cheryl Johnston and Marcie Siders, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife and mother. Caring for others did not stop with her family; through the years she was there to support other families including many military families, helping them to ease some of the homesickness that many feel. In addition, she volunteered many years at Good Samaritans in Dover TN, served as a foster mom for many dogs, helped establish the Good News Club-Child Evangelism Fellowship at North Stewart and Dover Elementary Schools, and was a long time member of Bumpus Mills United Methodist Church. Memorial Service to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Good Samaritans in Dover TN or Stewart County Faithful Friends Animal Rescue.
