Pete Zavatchen, Jr., age 71 of Woodlawn passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Gateway Medical Center. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Marc Jones officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 and 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
He was born on July 11, 1943 at Camp Forrest, TN to the late Pete and Willie Ruth Newman Zavatchen.
He was an Environmental Engineer with Thomas Industries. He was also a coach and treasurer for the Northwest Little League for 21 years (1975 - 1996).
He is survived by children, Daniel (Tina) Zavatchen, Adam Zavatchen, Lynn (Raymon) Jackson, Toni (Jeff) Phillips; sisters, Glenda (Leonard) Christman, Stephanie (Sam) Hunt; grandchildren, Alex (Scott) Comer, Abby Zavatchen, Andy Zavatchen, Megan Jackson, Taylor Phillips; 4 step-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Josh Hunt, Zack Hunt, Andy Zavatchen, Michael Jackson, Scott Comer and Chris Steffen.
