Ray Lowry, Jr., 83, of Clarksville, TN, died at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Sykes Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday March 4, 2013 at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Furman Muzzall officiating. Visitation will be Monday, March 4, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
He was born May 5, 1929 to the late Elbert "Tug" and Mammie Puckett Lowry. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Godbey, Mary Jean Ritchie; brothers Coleman Lowry and Leslie Lee Lowry.
Ray was a retired Sargent Major in the United States Army and also retired from Lowry Uniform sales and Lowry Auto Sales. He was of Protestant faith and a member of the Queen City Lodge and Shriners.
He is survived by wife, Laura Louise Lowry; son, Keith (Jan) Lowry of Clarksville; daughter, Susan Barger of Clarksville; sisters, Ann (Don) Bedson of Ohio, Eva (James) McDaniel of Kentucky; brothers, Martin (Ann)Lowry and John Robert (Linda) Lowry of Kentucky; grandchildren, Kerry Harper, Brandie Barger Stark, Terri Honshell, Clinton Barger, Rian Barger, Jerry Johnson; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Stark, Tori Stark, Kenlie Barger, Taylor Woodring, Landon Welborn, Carson Honshell, Grace Johnson, Amelia Johnson; great-great-granddaughter, Addyson Stark and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Barger, Ricky Stark, John Jason McDaniel, Jarrod Honshell, Gilbert Harper and Jerry Johnson.
