John White

d. February 13, 2021

Visitation for John Wesley White will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Sykes Funeral Home. John’s struggle with addiction came to an end on Saturday, February 13,  2021 at the age of 33.  Wes was trying to get into a rehab program and his family hoped and prayed that he would win this battle.  Unfortunately, he lost his fight to be free.  Despite his health issues, Wesley was ever optimistic that he would recover and live a long happy life.  Although he struggled with the detriment’s life pushed his way, he started most days on a good note and was always trying to do better.  Keeping in touch with his mother was a source of comfort and strength for both of them.  Everyone worried when we did not hear from him.  Sadly, those calls will come no more, and our hearts are forever broken.

John Wesley was born in Houston Texas to Gayla Wars-White and Charles F. White in 1987 and the youngest of three boys.  Wesley grew up in Maryland and later followed his brothers to Tennessee.   He was truly a kind and gentle soul and loved by all.  Wesley shared his zest for life with everyone and would do his best to support others in need.  His kindness and generosity were well known and often taken advantage of, yet he would still keep giving.  Wes was also great in the kitchen and worked at several of the restaurants in Clarksville.  He often spoke of his ambition to become a sous chef.  As an avid sports fan from an early age, he had an uncanny knack for remembering all the players of his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys, all their stats and so much more.  He could have been an awesome sportscaster.

Wesley is preceded in death by his oldest brother Charles Dennis White who served over seven years with the 101st Airborne and passed in April of 2017 at the age of 37. He is survived by his parents Charles and Gayla White, Grandmother Melba McCollum, Brother Aaron K. White, Sister-in-law Nikki, Sister Lauren Bowman, Brother-in-law Jake, niece Molly Ann White and nephews Aaron A. White, Derek White and Michael Chambers. Yes, Wesley was blessed with so many more than room to mention here and we want all of you to know that we truly appreciate the kind thoughts and prayers.  Thank you from the bottom or our hearts, we could not get through this without your support.

Our Family wishes to express our sincerest Thanks and Appreciation to all that supported Wesley in his struggles.  Y’all are truly loved and we wish all of you and your families the very best and a healthy life.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that donations be made to the Salvation Army Clarksville-Emergency Homeless Shelter at PO Box 623, Clarksville, TN 37041 https://www.alivingtribute.org/.

Thank you and may God Bless You and Your Families.
