John Wesley Shepherd, 78, Cumberland Furnace, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Skyline Medical Center.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Melvin Brooks officiating.
Burial will be in Louise Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Shepherd was born on May 25, 1932 in Stewart County son of the late William Barney and Mary Eleanor Norfleet Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his son Johnny Darnell Shepherd.
He retired from the Montgomery County School System as a Heat & Air Tech. He attended Louise Methodist Church. He loved camping, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife Carlene Dawson Shepherd, son Jimmy Shepherd,and his brother Leon (Mary) Shepherd of Pigeon Forge, TN. He has two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Terry Buckner, Jason Dawson, Mark Dawson, Steve Dawson, Matt Sandifer, Wesley Shepherd and Jerry Buckner. www.sykesfuneralhome.com
