John Frye

Funeral service for John William Frye, age 83 of Clarksville, will be held Tuesday, Feb 05, 2013, 2:00pm at Sykes Funeral Home. Dr. Roger Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb 05, 2013 from 10:00 am until the hour of service.
Mr. Frye passed away on Wednesday, Jan 30, 2013 at Grace Health Care.  He was born on Jan 21, 1930 in East Laurinburg, NC to Daniel and Minnie Frye. John was a Korean War Veteran with the United States Air Force. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, a 50 year Master Mason Clarksville Lodge #89, York Rite, Scottish Rite, and a Gideon. Mr. Frye enjoyed many of his years singing as a member of the Harmonaires and Songsmen quartets.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Daughter Susan Frye Jackson of Fayetteville, TN.
He is survived by his Wife, Ella Martin Frye of Clarksville; Son, Bill Frye of Farmerville, LA; Sisters, Gladys Pittman and Laura West of Lumberton, NC;  Granddaughter, Leslie Frye Ben Yehoshua of Atlanta, GA;  Grandson, SFC William Daniel Frye currently serving in Afganistan ;  Granddaughter, Candace King Wilkerson of Greenbriar, TN and 5 Great-Grandchildren, Dakota, Scotty, Presley, Ryan and Liam.

Pallbearers will be Glen Cornett, Bill Knight, Dudley McWhorter, Jim Robinson, Ed Shepard, Ray Swadley, Frank Trice, Wade Trotter.

In lieu of flowers John Frye requested that donations be made to the The Gideons International or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
