Jo Ann Rives

Funeral service for Jo Ann Rives, age 81 of Cumberland Furnace, will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Mt. Zion UMC. Burial will follow in the WM.Batson Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sykes Funeral Home and Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion UMC.

Pallbearers will be Mike Sheppard, Sr., John Stier Sr., Ronnie Presley, Michael Sheppard Jr., Jesse Presley, Thomas "Randy" Corlew, Brandon Rives, and Zachary Rives.
Honorary Pallbearer is Brandon Forbes.

Jo Ann passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her residence. She was born on Nov 01, 1935 in Montgomery Co. TN to Mellow Porter Sr. and Myrtle (Davis) Porter. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion UMC, and before retiring she worked at Montgomery Central Schools.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Francis Lofton and Mellow Porter, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Alfred B. Rives;  daughters, Sheila (Mike Sr.) Sheppard, Patty (Ronnie) Presley, Belinda (John Stier Sr.) Rives;  son, Ronald W. Rives; brother, Edward Porter; grandchildren, Stephanie Moore, Brandon L. Rives, Jessie Presley, Michael Sheppard Jr., Thomas "Randy" Corlew, Amanda Forbes, Joanna Corlew, Zachary Rives, Megan Rives, and seven great-grandchildren.
