Jim “JD” Donival Coleman, age 86, of Clarksville passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Sykes Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Harwell officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 10 a.m. until hour of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Coleman Tatum Cemetery.
He was born June 10, 1926 in Houston County, TN to the late Irving and Mattie Schmittou Coleman. He was also preceded in death by first wife Norma Jean Bays Coleman; son, Leroy Coleman; brothers, Willie P. Coleman, Ryan Coleman, Boyd Coleman; sister, Mildred Clements.
He is survived by wife, Vivian Smith Cox Coleman; son, Irvin Coleman; stepsons, Charles Dale (Angie) Cox, John Mark (Gail) Cox; daughter, Doris (Bill Walden) Smith; stepdaughters Virginia Cox (Mike) Smith, Carol Cox (Rick) Champagne; daughter-in-law, Lisa Coleman; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was a Charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was employed by Frosty Morn for 28 years as a Meat Packer and most recently as a driver for Clarksville Auto Auction.
Pallbearers will be Richard Hunley, Don Ivey, Joe Creek, Brian Murray, Frank Briar, Paul Fatheree, Steve Dusenberry, Jim “JD” Donival Bingerman
Members of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class of Hillcrest Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers as well as Dorris Owen, George Craig, Ewen Claxton, David Ford, Leon Mann, Bobby Seay, Ray Pratt and Joe Pitts, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 380 Dover Road, Clarksville, TN 37042
