Clarksville

A Celebration of Life for James "Jim" Henry Bloom, age 88, of Clarksville, TN, will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the home of Jim and Luanne. Pastor Chad Rowland will lead a short program at 4:30 pm.

Jim was born in Detroit, MI, to Henry and Alice Bloom and passed away on June 27, 2024. He grew up in Detroit with a lively group of friends and took great pride in attending and playing football at St. Ambrose High. Jim was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. Upon his return from the Philippines, he served his community as a firefighter. He then attended Michigan State University and earned a degree in criminal justice. Jim also joined the MSU football team until an injury ended his freshman season. During his senior year, he met his lovely wife Luanne, and they married shortly after.

After a stint as a Birmingham police officer, he spent the next 40 years as an executive in the automotive industry. Jim was a fun-loving man who cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed boating, golfing, hunting, playing cards, and watching old westerns. He took great pride in attending sporting events, school functions, and theater productions for all his grandchildren. Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He attended The Bridge Church and Sango United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Alice Bryant. Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Luanne Klomparens Bloom; children: Thomas (Amy Bjork) Bloom, Tricia (Tony) Briningstool, and Charles (Janet) Bloom; and grandchildren: Ivy, Poppy, Mitchell, Jake, Julia, Josephine, Nathan, Christopher, and Ellen.

The family will also host an open house to receive friends in Michigan later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Nashville Dinner of Champions Gala in honor of Jim Bloom. Jim and Luanne’s grandson, Mitch, has been battling Arthritis since childhood. www.arthritis.org/docnashville
