Ione Williams

Sudie Ione Crosslin Williams, age 95, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Signature Healthcare of Clarksville.  Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Ione was born October 1, 1919, in Summitville, TN to the late Richard and Sudie Crosslin.

Ione was a teacher and retired from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System in 1977 with 30 years of service, mostly at Norman Smith Elementary School.  She was also a member of Hilldale United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 1 pm, at Sykes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. B. J. Brack officiating.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from 10 am until the hour of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Ione is survived by her two daughters, Betty Chesney of Clarksville, TN and Barbara Dixon of Fredericksburg, VA; two sisters, Vera Freeman of Clarksville, TN and Mozelle Abernathy of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Patrick (Saundra) Chesney of Clarksville, TN , Denise (George) Dettwiller of Clarksville, TN; Donna Rogers of Fredericksburg, VA and Chad Dixon of Fredericksburg, VA; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Chesney of Clarksville, TN,  Det  Dettwiller of Clarksville, TN; Ayden Dixon of Fredericksburg, VA, and Ben Rogers of Fredericksburg, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Williams; son-in-laws, Wayne Chesney and Donald Dixon; three sisters and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Chesney, Hunter Chesney, George Dettwiller, Det Dettwiller, Chad Dixon, Ayden Dixon, Ben Rogers and Charles Freeman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hilldale United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1751 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37043 or the charitable organization of your choice.’
